I am so excited to introduce you to the Fitness Friday series, which will go live the second Friday of each month and will be written by my friend Madii.
She’s an expert and is serious #fitnessgoals. So, without further ado, here is her first post!
My name is Madii (@madiimccoy on Insta), and Cara has so generously allowed me to be a guest writer for her blog. I’m so excited to share some of my favorite “get fit the right way” tips with you!
Summer is right around the corner, and I know that we are all trying to get that #goals summer body, so I’m here to help. Before you can even utter the word “detox,” let me give you a few pieces of advice!
If you had one too many girl scout cookies this past season, or maybe you’ve decided on trying harder next year, don’t fret because it’s not too late to get on track for summer.
On that note, the first step is your mindset. Getting started on your fitness journey is challenging enough, so make sure you’re in it for the long haul. Encourage yourself daily to make healthy choices to achieve your goals, but make sure not to deprive yourself of those occasional GNOs or Wine Wednesdays. It’s all about balance.
Step two is to make sure you give yourself plenty of healthy options when it comes to snacks and meals. Lucky for you, Dose of the Day has so many healthy and delicious options, so you’re already ahead of the game. My general rule of thumb is: If I don’t buy it, I won’t eat it.
I’m sure you clicked on this post expecting some crazy workout and diet regimen, and we’ll get to the fitness aspect soon. However, it is so important to understand that fitness isn’t all about losing weight. It’s about building healthy habits that turn into a lifelong way of living.
So, my final tip is find a form of exercise that works for you. I love weightlifting and yoga, but that’s just what works for me! Barre, group fitness, strength and agility training, hiking, and interval training are also great options to get your heart rate up and burn calories. If fitness feels like a chore, you’re doing it wrong.
In my opinion, there’s no “one size fits all” approach to fitness and health. What works for you may not work for everyone else, but that’s A-Okay. Find what feels good, and you’ll see results in no time.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my post. I hope to share more tips with you guys soon, but in the meantime, be sure to follow Dose of the Day for more healthy recipes and tips!
