So this past weekend my sweet cousin Hannah and I made a pretty impromptu trip down to Seaside for a long weekend.
It was a MUCH needed getaway for both of us as it has been her busy season during work and my travel bug has been itching like crazy.
We arrived on Friday, which was coincidentally Cinco de Mayo. Both of us thrive on a diet of margaritas and Mexican food, so basically it was our favorite day of the year.
It was a bit too chilly for us to spend much time at the beach that day, so we made the mile and a half trek down to the main dining area of Seaside on the beach and it was truly lovely.
Hannah and I have grown up going to South Carolina beaches our entire life and though it’s my favorite place in the world, there is some thing really special about Gulf beaches.
Bud & Alley’s has a little taco bar in Seaside and we figured we’d just grab a marg and some of their heavenly guacamole for dinner before walking back, but when we finally arrived we were greeted with the sweetest surprise.
If you haven’t been to Seaside, there is an area with lots of shopping and restaurants and string lights and its basically a dream.
When we arrived, there was live music and dancing and $5 margaritas that were STROOOOONG.
It was honestly my favorite night of the entire trip because the weather was perfect, the sunset was gorgeous and everyone was just so damn happy.
If you’re headed to Seaside soon, here’s a list of my top three favorite places:
Breakfast: Cowgirl Kitchen
Hannah and I LOVE Cowgirl Kitchen. It was about half a mile from our condo, so we would walk down around 815 every morning for their ‘Grumpy Hour.’ Grumpy Hour lasts from 8 to 9 and is $5 mimosas and Bloody Mary’s. My favorite thing to get there is Big Bill’s Burrito and Hannah loves the Mexican Tacos and the waffles. It is fairly priced and an absolute staple during our trips.
Lunch: Bud & Alley’s Taco Bar
This is the best place to get the most bang for your buck. Food is super cheap and wonderful there. I love, love, love their steak burrito – which is loaded with steak, beans, rice, pico and the wonderful surprise of cabbage. I also cannot express in words how delicious the guacamole is there. It was truly life changing and my mouth is watering just thinking of it. Plus, they make a real strong drink there.
Dinner: The Great Southern
The Great Southern is another spot that has become a must have for Hannah and I . I’m not kidding when I say it is the first place we went to when we arrived in Seaside and our last meal there. The seafood gumbo is wonderful, they have an amazing happy hour, and the outside is super open. Plus, they put on the Stanley Cup Playoffs while we were there for dinner Sunday and I appreciated it SO much.
If you can, you must take a trip down to the beach soon, it’s good for the soul.
Where is your favorite beach spot??
