Kentucky Derby Lookbook

Hey y’all!

If you’re from the south then you definitely know what the Kentucky Derby is, and if you aren’t you still have probably heard of it. This year’s Derby is next Saturday, May 6.

Last year I had the privilege of going with a group of some of my closest college friends a few weeks before we graduated. Let me just tell you, it was one of the most fun weekends EVER.

My biggest piece of advice is to be prepared not to have phone service, know that you’ll probably end up getting separated from your friends, and try to stay somewhere as wonderful as my friend Ally Rose’s parent’s house – seriously, they were the best hosts!

If you will be taking in the race from the infield like we did, you will definitely want to wear shoes that you don’t care too much about getting dirty or maybe even ruined. Plus, you’ll probably end up doing quite a bit of walking.  It’s also a seriously long day so remember its a marathon, not a sprint.

Also, BRING CASH. Most vendors will only accept it and thats how you place your bets, too!

Okay, on to the looks! Most of my friends opted for an always stylish romper last year, while the rest of us went for cute sundresses. Whatever you do, go for something that is comfortable and made of a light material – it’s super hot out!

Also, wear a hat if you want or don’t! Our friend Ally Rose is the native Louisville person and an experienced Derby go-er and she didn’t wear a hat. The rest of us did, but I ultimately lost mine somewhere in the infield.

P.S. Click on each photo’s caption for a direct link to the item!

Hope y’all enjoyed and I can’t wait to see everyone’s Derby Day outfits!!

xoxo,

Cara
