With Lent quickly approaching I am trying to get my mind wrapped around my intentions between now and Easter. My birthday is also coming up and I’ve decided that 23 is the year that I get it in gear.
With that being said I’ve tried to incorporate some healthy habits into my daily routine, like drinking kombucha, chlorophyll water, and taking more supplements. I’m going to do a post about all of that later, but for now here’s what my typical day to day looks like.
I try to start my morning with protein so I usually make egg whites or grab a ThinkThin protein bar (my favorite at the moment is creamy peanut butter!). This morning I had 4 tablespoons of egg whites and a smoothie. My smoothie had kale, non-fat plain greek yogurt (also high in protein), pineapple, mango, banana and honey. This tropical smoothie is my new go to. I also had a cup of coffee with Trader Joe’s Coconut Creamer. This stuff is DELICIOUS and only has 5 calories!!
My sweet neighbor Mandy invited me over for coffee and scones and I obviously could not resist. The coffee we had is from New Orleans Coffee Exchange and was truly LIFE CHANGING. You can click here to get some of your own king cake coffee (I highly recommend with a little almond milk and stevia!)
For lunch I had 1 cup of broccoli, 3/4 cup of pineapple, and 6 oz. of albacore tuna packed in water. I love a really creamy tuna but hate the high caloric and fattening effects of mayonnaise. Instead I smashed in one small avocado to give it that creaminess and some good fats. I also added in some spicy mustard, lemon pepper seasoning, and crushed red pepper flakes. Tuna has been my go to lunch the last few days because it is super filling and incredibly high in lean protein so I have a mid day push.
For dinner I had skinny shrimp scampi. I’m not going to give too much away about this recipe because it will be on the blog Friday, but its my most carb heavy meal of the day and is packed full of spinach, protein, and fresh herbs. I also had a small bowl of caesar salad because I just CANNOT resist.
I try to stay full of protein because I think it keeps me going and fueled for an afternoon workout.
Today was a little different because I had about four cups of coffee, which is kind of unusual, but so worth it. I also try to drink between 8 and 10 16 0z. mason jars full of water each day.
