This post is going to be my first in a series of ‘gift guides.’ With the holidays coming up and my list of people to buy Christmas gifts growing longer, I am realizing the importance of staying organized.
Since I graduated in May and a lot of my friends are getting married or settling into their first homes / apartments, I felt that a post-grad and home gift guide was the perfect fit for all of my 20-something friends that I will be buying gifts for.

The Hungoevr Cookbook
This cookbook had me in tears from laughing so hard! The commentary is hilarious and includes a stomach sensitivity scale to gauge what kind of food you should be eating. The recipes range in levels of difficulty but there is definitely something for everyone. Cookbooks are such a good gift to give someone who has recently gone out on their own, because let’s be really eventually we have to stop eating late night Taco Bell and learn how to chop a damn vegetable. Other cookbook favorites are Cravings and How to Cook Everything
There is nothing I love more than a candle. My absolute favorite scent is the Capri Blue Volcano candle from Anthropologie. I am not kidding when I say I have at least five of these and I have even gotten my mom hooked on them. A candle is this perfect way to make a room look cozier and smell delicious. Plus, who doesn’t love to achieve the most #basic Pinterest goals room possible. Diptyque and NEST Fragrances also make AMAZING candles in every scent you could ever imagine.
Table coasters are a necessity in my opinion, but they are something that is often times overlooked. I am obsessed with these multi-color geode ones. Coasters are a great way to brighten up a table or room and are super practical so that you don’t get rings on your IKEA coffee table. I own a set of these coasters from Anthropologie in turquoise and they are seriously so beautiful. I am not a huge fan of color but these definitely make me happy every time I catch a glimpse of them.
Stock the Bar
This is something I would LOVE to receive and there is so much you can do with it. My cousin had this bar cart on her wedding registry and I fell in LOVE and, even better, it’s on sale right now! Additionally, you can get your post-grad friend a fancy bottle opener. A few years ago I got my parents the Houdini Corkscrew and they are so lucky I haven’t stolen it from them because it makes opening wine SO easy – plus it comes in a copper finish, which is my love language. Another great item to include would be a cocktail shaker. This one from Williams Sonoma is on sale for just $8! Plus throw in a bottle of wine or a handle of their favorite alcohol and you’re good to go. My friend Riley over at Yes, Please Daily has the best bar cart I have ever seen…seriously it is goals. Be sure to check it out here.
I could not live without my bullet blender.I, coincidentally, got one as a gift a few Christmases ago from my aunt. These guys are the BEST for making smoothies, blending up foods, and have a couple of attachments that can help you with nearly every task in the kitchen. Plus they are so small that they don’t take up a ton of counter space and can be stored in a drawer really easily.
I’ve found that since graduating a lot of my friends have actually been buying games of some sort. Games are a great way to bring people together when they are visiting your apartment and also provide endless entertainment. Cards Against Humanity is one of my favorites to play!
I live in the kitchen. Seriously. Cooking is one of my favorite ways to decompress after work and this glass prep mixing bowl set from William Sonoma is at the top of my Christmas list. There is an 8 piece set and a 10 piece set (the one I want!). Pro Tip: if you create a Williams Sonoma account and sign in then add these to your cart, but don’t check out that day chances are pretty good that they will send you a coupon the next day for 25% off your order and free shipping!
Adulting is HARD and coming home to an apartment that feels like home and is super cozy is very important to me. Oftentimes home décor items are things that we don’t think to get ourselves and we don’t think outside of the necessities for more fun items.
What is your favorite thing in your home?
Be on the lookout for the next gift guide later this week!
